Bit confusing this.
Who are Spiney Norman?
Oh - I'm glad you noticed that. You might need to know a little bit about the history of the band. Spiney Norman were a Folk-Rock group. The Lesser Known Tunisians were originally David Leach, John Elliott and Johnny Pitts. First David joined Spiney Norman and then John some while later. This made the line-up Cathy Hole, Dave Hawkes, Adam Palmer, Michael Palmer, David Leach & John Elliott. They played in many Colleges and recorded at Surrey University for Dave Moore who was doing the Tonnmeister degree.
After Cathy left they tried a few name changes first to Shurtz, Parrot & finally - The Lesser Known Tunisians
Archive recordings are slowly being re-mastered in the digital domain and will eventually become available.
The Lesser Known Tunisians
Gradually became less folky and more Rocky with Jazz understains. Following Michael's departure each member adopted a tag or AKA/alias before any of the emerging Punk groups had. In fact in many ways the LKT were a band ahead of their time.
John Elliott - JOQ,
David Leach - Carl Marks,
Dave Hawkes - the Late Sir Charles Bodily-Bodily,
Alisdair McGregor - Max Raspberry,
Adam Palmer - Adi Glibson (the famous Japanese copy).
They continued playing Clubs, Pubs and Colleges attracting the attention of the local and national press. Recorded at Surrey Sounds Studios where The Police launched their career. Then for Anvil Records at Denham Film Studios on their sound stage, the largest in Europe at the time, where the music for Lawrence of Arabia amongst other films was recorded. But perhaps their most successful recordings were achieved at Castle Farm Cottage, their home for those few brief idyllic years in the 70's.
